Society Blog

Welcome to Good and Bad Ophthalmology

The Society for Clinical Ophthalmology was set up to facilitate communication between eye-care practitioners and patients. Increasingly the barriers between practitioners and patients are being broken down, and this is as it should be. However each “side” needs a little guidance and the Society’s aim is to help provide this guidance.

What is vital to the Society is interaction, so please get in touch if you have a comment about anything you seen on the Society website, or see something you would like featured and brought to the attention of a wider audience. There are innumerable websites and opportunities where you can post comments these days, but the Society for Clinical Ophthalmology’s website will let your voice be heard by a wide audience of professionals and patients.

This blog will keep you up to date with the Society’s web content, but will also feature comments on important eye-care issues in what I hope will be a rational manner. A new wave of “rationality” and a push for quality of information is sweeping the internet and we at the Society are more than happy to ride it. Working to put an end to ludicrous claims, poorly reported research and questionable clinical advice as a vehicle for professional and financial gain will be our goal.
